It is in the title and you probably guessed it already: the key feature for a sock to stay up all day is that is knee high / over the calf.
I know many of you find them uncomfortable, and I’m sure that most actually are: however, if a sock checks all the previous qualities described in our articles, you’ll feel comfortable wearing over the knee socks.
Because of the shape of our calf, the best anchor point for the elastic band is right below the knee were the diameter gets smaller.
At this strategic anchor position, the elastic band needs only to gently hug your circumference. This is helped also by the absence of vertical pressure, as discussed in made to measure and gentle compression articles.
I know what some of you are thinking: “long socks in summer??!” It comes down to the right fabric for the right weather.
And before I jump into the different quality of each natural fibre I can personally guarantee you that a long sock made with linen, cotton or silk will make you feel fresher than any no-show sock made with synthetic materials.
If you haven’t yet, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!
